(1) Electric furnaces have lower manufacturing and maintenance costs compared to gas furnaces, occupy less land, are easy to maintain, and have less impact on production.
(2) Compared to gas, electricity has lower energy consumption and lower costs.
After testing and comparing the forged steel parts of a certain company under two fire conditions, the average consumption of natural gas per ton of steel is 80m3, and the natural gas cost is 3.31 yuan/m3, with a total cost of 80x3.31=264.8 yuan/ton. The electricity cost for using an electric furnace for 320kWh is 0.6 yuan/kWh, and the cost is 320x0.6=192 yuan/ton. Forging each ton of steel can reduce costs by 264.8-192=72.8 yuan.
From the policy analysis of national green and low-carbon development, the supply of gas will be controlled, and gas prices will also be raised, which will bring increasing costs and pressure to enterprises. (3)Electric furnace heating reduces oxide skin loss by more than 50% compared to gas furnace heating.
For the same workpiece, the thickness of the oxide layer caused by the gas furnace is generally around 4-5mm. If the steel is burned at a rate of about 45kg per ton after two fires, the loss rate is 4.5%.
Switching to an electric furnace to burn steel oxide scale at around 2mm results in a loss of about 20kg per ton of steel, with a loss rate of only 2%. The yield rate alone has increased by over 2.5%.
If calculated at the lowest price of 6000 yuan/ton for low-alloy steel, the benefit per ton of steel is 6x (45-20)=150 yuan, and the total cost per ton of steel can be reduced by 150+72.8=222.8 yuan/ton. The more expensive the materials and the higher the production capacity, the greater the benefits for the enterprise, and cumulatively, it will bring considerable economic benefits to the enterprise.
(4) Due to the fact that electric heating involves radiative heat transfer and is a reducing atmosphere. Gas heating, on the other hand, is conducted heat transfer and belongs to an oxidizing atmosphere. So the center crack of electrically heated forgings can be significantly reduced.
(5) Changing from gas fired steel furnaces to electric fired steel furnaces will achieve the ultimate goal of zero emissions and low-carbon environmental protection.
