Shougang Group was honored as one of the first members of the Charter for Sustainable Development in 2025

Recently, World Steel Association (WSA) officially announced the list of members who have obtained the membership of the 2025 version of the Charter for Sustainable Development, and after a comprehensive, systematic and rigorous assessment, Shougang Group has been awarded the title of the first batch of "Members of the Charter for Sustainable Development".

Among the first 31 steel companies and industry associations in the world to be awarded the title of “Member of the Charter for Sustainable Development”, there are 4 Chinese steel companies, and Shougang Group has become one of them. In recent years, BSG has deeply implemented the national “dual-carbon” strategy, formulated the “dual-carbon” work program, actively fulfilled the social responsibility of state-owned enterprises, and through the continuous implementation of the “BSG Green Action Plan Through the continuous implementation of “Shougang Group Green Action Plan”, Shougang Group has rooted the awareness of ecological civilization in all aspects and processes of its operation and development, and is striving to build a resource-saving and environment-friendly enterprise. The Group has continued to improve its ESG management system, published the Shougang Group Social Responsibility Report for thirteen consecutive years, and became a member of the World Steel Association's Charter for Sustainable Development in 2023. 2024, the Group published its first sustainability report, which was selected as one of the outstanding cases in the “Blue Book of Social Responsibility of Iron and Steel Industry (2024)”, demonstrating the enterprise's fulfillment of its responsibility practices in the four dimensions of environment, society, governance, and value. Combined with industrial characteristics and resource advantages, from steel manufacturing to urban services, corporate development strategies are deeply integrated with the concept of sustainable development, and ESG practices have taken root, BSIET is accelerating the building of its core competitiveness for a green future. BSIET will insist on taking green as the distinctive color of its corporate development, and continue to work hand in hand with its global partners to make contributions to the sustainable development of the world's iron and steel industry.

It is understood that the World Steel Association's Charter for Sustainable Development is one of the most influential sustainable development evaluation systems in the international steel industry, including nine sustainable development principles and 20 standards, covering environmental, social, management and economic areas.The award began in 2008 to recognize steel companies and industry associations that have responded positively to the principles of sustainable development put forward by the Association.
